'SHERLOCK' graphite drawing

I've always wanted to draw Benedict Cumberwatch as a 'Sherlock' (RDJ is no in the same league) fanart drawing  as its one of my favourite tv shows. But I did not feel I could do him justice before so waited till I felt I could, and as you can see that day was today, because of the new technique i'm using. Also I find I learn new techniques much quicker if I do 2-3 drawings practicing, one after the other in quick succession. Otherwise it could take forever to get to grips and refine the new skills and techniques you've learnt.

As I stated before I decided to try a new technique and process to push me towards my goal of hyperrealism. As I believe if something is not working no matter how comfortable it is for you, you’ve got to try something new.

On A3 paper with graphite and charcoal pencils. Approx 30 hours.
