Description

This is my first ever A2 graphite and charcoal drawing which is double the size of the A3 I usually use. From now on all artwork apart from commissioned clients portraits will be on A2 paper.

The drawing is of the tenth guru of the Sikhs 'Guru Gobind Singh Ji'. The drawing took me approximately 90 hours plus over a 10 day period.

And also a big 'THANKYOU' to whoever gave me a free membership over Christmas.

I am fascinated by the details in this one; from the eagle in the tree, to the twill pattern in the blanket weave, to the slashes on shield and armor, to the tiny birds and animals on the ground. The first thing the eye is drawn to is the man's intense gaze, then there are SO MANY other things to look at. I'm liking this drawing very much and have been looking at all the little details for

A note: It appears that the horse's hooves are cloven. Horses have single hooves. One of the consequences of creating such finely detailed artwork is that if one of the details are a little "off," it's easier to notice.

The dramatic pose and lighting, and the intensity of the rider's gaze, make this an eye catching work. I really wish I could see this drawing in real life.
