'The Joker' Graphite drawing by Pen-Tacular-Artist 'The Joker' Graphite drawing by Pen-Tacular-Artist
Finally i've managed to do a Heath Ledger's joker drawing that i'm happy with. As i've been meaning to redraw heath ledgers 'joker' for ages, but did not feel ready before, especially after my other two attempts which were pretty terrible in my opinion and did not do him justice. But now i felt ready to finally do a joker drawing, after practiseing and using all the techniques i've learnt over the previous months drawing portraits.

This is also my first 'full A3' fanart drawing that i've done since my darth vader drawing.

And like i've said before the 'Dark Knight' is my favourite all time movie. And heath ledgers portrayal as the the joker my favourite villain and performance in a movie ever. Which is surprising as i never liked the joker as a character prior to his performance, which shows just how incredible his portrayal of the joker was.

The drawing Was done on A3 bristol board, using standard and mechanical graphite pencils. And took about 50 hours to complete over 4 days.

Here are some of my other graphite drawings.

Well here we go :D. Negatives then positives. To be completely honest, this one isn't one of my favourites.

Firstly I would like to point out the hair, the negative about this is just how it looks when comparing to realism. For me it personally looks too blocky not flowing and wispy enough in my opinion.

Furthermore another thing that strikes me is his glove, it looks great texturally, however from a lighting perspective it looks weird for me in contrast to the face.

Also for a hyper realistic portrait, the inside jacket looks like an obvious crosshatch pattern. It does give a nice texture, but especially the bottom flap of the jacket looks too obvious to me.

The last thing is that the hair on the right doesn't have any shadow on his face which makes it looks slightly pasted on. However, it's understandable as adding a shadow under all that hair seems extremely difficult.

Overall, these aren't all MAJOR things, but hyper realism includes all these small things.

Now the positives, I personally love the eyes, the texture around them and the eyes itself, you never cease to impress me with the reflections.

Another thing I like is the texture of his inner shirts. The patterns fit very well with his character and you did them very nicely in my opinion.

I also like the card he holds in his hand, very nicely done. That part looks like the most realistic thing in the whole drawing for me. I love it, well done :D.

The last thing would be the outermost jacket flap on the right, it just looks great with all the detail.

Anyway, this is quite a quick critique so I'm sorry if I might have left some things out.

Can't wait to see your next work :D. Keep on improving!
