'The Dark Knight' graphite drawing by Pen-Tacular-Artist 'The Dark Knight' graphite drawing by Pen-Tacular-Artist
Firstly i would just like to thank my watchers who supported me again during a tough and long WIP process (I had to change the background).

I've been wanting to do a series of fanart drawings of my favourite film of all time 'The Dark Knight' . But i only wanted to do it when i felt ready and could do the best 'batman' and 'joker' drawings i possible could. This is my first batman graphite drawing, but i am planning on doing 2 or 3 of both characters.

I tried to replicate every component and material according to the reference pic. And overall it took about 55- 60 hours over 7 days.

I like to give my own take on fanart rather than just copying the reference picture exactly. So i originally had the sky full of bats, with a bat in flying in front of the moon so it looked like the batsign (i will use this in another drawing of batman). But after starting the background yesterday i quickly realised that the background looked way to chaotic and a mess. So i made the decision to leave the bats (the moon and clouds were already done). And instead go for the classic batsign emerging out of gotham city. But because the clouds had been fully shaded the bat light is darker than i wanted it.

Here are some of my other 'fanart' graphite drawings.

The drawing was done on A3 Bristol Board paper using standard and mechanical graphite pencils.

The reference i used is here [link].

To any lay artist, this would sum up in one word. AMAZING. But then there is the need to extensively break it down and analyze it.. So here we go!

:bulletblue: You reflected what you had in mind, through your tools.
:bulletblue: I'd say that you enabled even me to see that this was a clean, crisp version of your vision; nothing is dulled, and nothing is unclear whatsoever. I'd give it a 5.

:bulletblue: Unfortunately when it comes to traditional art of movies, the originality takes a beating heavily. I know this as a fan artist, and none of my works really have an "original idea".
:bulletblue: BUT! you were original enough to change the background, and that is indeed reflection of your mind saying, "Oh god, this is not 100% original..." So i gave it a 2.5.

:bulletblue: Do i even NEED to say how awesome the technique for this is?!! Needless, I will. You have given much time into concentrating on the "little things" in the picture, and not just the overall image of batman.
:bulletblue: From the eyes, to the belt, and right down to the suit's texture, everything is carefully shaded which makes me understand you are really a master of this art.
:bulletblue: Perhaps you could have spend a little more time researching on the buildings, as they are the only aspect of the drawing that looks "drawn". a little more realism on the buildings would have gotten you a 5.
:bulletblue: BUT! I give you a 5 regardless, as your works are truly technically mind blowing. ^_^

:bulletblue: BAM! The picture speaks a 1000 words. You have managed to etch it into the veiwers' mind upon only once seeing it that "Hey, this is the Dark Knight."
:bulletblue: And it isnt even necessary to add the amount of time you put into this, making the impact all the more awesomer. I'd be a fool not to give it a 5.

Conclusive Notes
As an artist who loves pencils, I can see the love and amount of time you put into each of your works. Please keep giving us artists more and more to inspire from and shower us with more and more such amazingly rendered graphite drawings.

To be honest and fair, I have to admit, I'm not really that big a fan of Batman. I feel he'll be absolutely butchered by others like Wonder Woman or Iron Man, but I have to admit, this piece of art is AWESOME. I love all the texture that you gave his suit and the Bat light in the background is REALLY cool. The way his cape drapes around him is really nice too. He should have been given a slightly longer neck though..
Otherwise, it is a fantastic piece of art, really great job. Do draw more superheroes soon :D.

That is awesome! And I mean that as literal as possible. I know the word is over used, but this really did induce a sense of awe and wonder.
