Description
This is another drawing in a series of artwork I'm planning on doing on my own 'Sikh' cultural background. As I stated on my 'Sikh Soldiers' drawing the Sikhs have a proud militaristic background, so allot of my drawings are going to reflect this part of my culture and history.
This particular drawing is of a 'Sikh warrior' who are known as 'Nihangs' in Punjabi, and are an order of Sikh fighters. Nihang's are accorded great respect and affection among the Sikh community worldwide for there bravery in past wars. And While the order is primarily ceremonial today, they are duty-bound to defend their people and faith in times of war and also practice a form of Sikh martial arts known as 'Gatka.
On A3 paper with graphite and charcoal pencils. Approx 45 hours.
Here are some of my other graphite drawings.
