Robocop Graphite Drawing by Pen-Tacular-Artist Robocop Graphite Drawing by Pen-Tacular-Artist
This is one of my favourite scenes from Robocop. Where robocop goes into the police computer lab and pulls out his USB spike, to the shock of the geeky computer guy who was hassling him.

Robocop is also also one of my all time favourite films.

Here are some of my other 'fanart' graphite drawings.

Drawing was done on A3 bristol board with standard and mechanical graphite pencils.

So maybe I'm a bit Biased due to my love of the movie, and character, but here goes...

I feel that this is a phenomenally done piece of work. The attention to detail is stunning to me, in the intricate light reflections on the reflective metals, as well as the small details like the insides of the knuckles.
As i said, the light and shadow work blows me away. I personally would like to see Robocop in a harsher light, with a bit more contrast, darker darks, and lighter lights. However that is a personal issue, as the artist's style works for this piece.
the likenesses are very good. The look on the officer to the right's face is spot on, and it is apparent that he is fixated on the data spike that has just violently popped from Robo's fist. Peter Weller has a very distinct face, with interesting skeletal build, and unique lips. I feel that the artist succeeded fully in capturing Murphy's likeness, as well as the boyish qualities in a hardened face.
I enjoy the background, and appreciate the time that went into detailing the electronic instruments. As I said earlier, I would have liked to see more light/dark contrast, and maybe shadow the background more, to make robo pop out a bit more dramatically. That said, the attention to detail in the background is impressive.
I very much like the work of this artist, and am excited to see more pieces. Great work, in my opinion.

Wow, astonishing details you have made here :o I am a fan of Robocop too, though it has been awhile since I have seen these movies :/ Just hope the reboot of the films would not crap it's pants at this point after seeing how the "new" Robocop looks like :S  Great job :D

Thanks alot. Unfortunately the new robocop may be a good film, but will always be a let down as the original is a classic. The only good thing is the actor playing robocop from the 'killing'. I am planning on doing more of robocop and other sci-fi from the 80's so keep an eye out.

Wht's your opinion of the new robocop design? (although I think with the cg he will look different than in the pictures)

I'm going to draw some more pics soon, so keep an eye out..

The new design is not a patch on the old one. I don't understand why they want to remake such a classic so soon its like remaking star wars or the terminator. As everything about the original was perfect and still destroys most films, especialy in terms of design even today.

The original suit in particular is one of the best designs i have seen so anything in comparison will look shit. If they made it more metalic then it would have been better. That being said the only thing i am excited about is the actor playing robocop, the main charcter from the 'killing' series, he is a gret actor. So he might actually save the film from being a complete disaster.

I agree with you that the original suit was very very good. I think what ruins it for me in the new suit is that it doesn't look "robot" enough. It looks more like a suit. I am not familiar with the actor (yeah I suck lol), but still I will give the movie a chance. I know it will not be as good as the original but maybe its a good movie, we'll see..

On a side note, it seems theyre running out of movie ideas, most are books transferred to movies or remakes.

If they made it metalic it would look okay, but still cannot beat the original. Check out 'Joel Kinnaman' whose playing robocop, he has a great way of making you really connect with a character, and i don't say that often. Solely just because of him, i will at least give it a chance. As i know there will at least be some excellent acting from the main character.

And this does prove there running out of ideas, but instead of remaking classics, they should try and improve the shit films that noone cares about.

I believe 'FUCK YOU ASS HOLE' would have been an outstanding cross-movie quote for this scene. This is awesome, and it is now my desktop background at work.
